In the bustling East of Nigeria, where logistics and delivery are becoming increasingly vital, there was a need for ease of ride-hailing.
Objectives
I led the end-to-end design direction of the mobile experience to connect riders and customers and help shape the business inventory features. For the design to be a success, my goal was to create a cohesive and engaging product experience across all platforms.
Core Users
Pickriders provides a comprehensive solution for businesses, offering features for efficient rider management and seamless API integration.
Riders use a user-friendly mobile app for real-time feedback to the business and customers.
Customers use the app to connect with nearby couriers for various tasks, making logistics faster.

Riders often find themselves juggling multiple deliveries across distant locations, struggling to complete them within reasonable timeframes. This affects the overall efficiency of the delivery process. We conducted interviews and met merchants and logistics business while doing this.
Realising the problem…
Customers often require swift deliveries, especially in scenarios like ordering food when hungry. Traditional methods of connecting customers and riders can be time-consuming, causing delays.
The challenge was to revolutionize traditional logistics methods with a seamless network. I aimed for a user-friendly and intuitive app with a precise user flow.
CUSTOMER JOURNEY MAP
I used detailed profiles of two fictional users, to represent the diverse audience of Pickriders. These personas capture their demographics, behaviors, and challenges, enabling user-centered design decisions.
USER PERSONAS
To enhance the customer app's visual appeal, ease of use, and engagement:
I designed loading screens and animations, including onboarding states (active, inactive, error states).
I collaborated closely with the product lead to ensure our design ideas effectively addressed the problem.
I ensured an interactive and intuitive flow for users to swiftly input pickup and errand details.
These initial screens prioritized user retention, considering that over 60% of mobile apps are deleted within the first 15 minutes after download. The main features were presented with a clear focus on current and completed orders for an engaging and intuitive user experience.
Here are some interesting design directions I took:
- Pickup order screens prioritize location input first, since users tend to think about the pickup location before other details.
- Subsequent form fields include straightforward and crucial delivery questions.
- Tips and recommendations provides clarity and simplifying decision-making, since I've done most of the thinking for the users.
The app includes the side menu and settings pages that allow users to edit their profile and customize the app according to their preferences. With a variety of options to choose the avatar from.
Fun and friendly custom illustrations that I created and used consistently throughout the product.
I also worked on countless prototypes and interactions to explore my ideas and for design handoff.
To simplify the riders' app and streamline order management for swift order tracking and completion:
I designed a minimalist riders app to accommodate their busy schedules.
Simplified the app with minimal click points to minimize distractions for the riders.
Implemented a system for tracking profits and expenses.
I designed and prototyped a tour guide (including videos) for first time businesses.
Above are some extra interesting screens for the business inventory. I fully prototyped and designed breakpoints for each screen.
The interesting parts of the design was over but I still created the admin features for keeping records and management of both the customers, the riders and the businesses.
After 6 months, we successfully launched Pickriders. Following the launch, I continued to work on various Pitchdeck designs and social media designs across different platforms.
I am currently open to full-time, contract or part-time opportunities.
